Sr. Software engineer- Nest.Js on top of GCP

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will create new and innovative approaches to problems arising from the operation and business requirements. For example, an increase in demand for automation of repetitive tasks or introducing more efficient workflows. You will function as the right hand- and be in direct contact with the CTO about architectural ideation and implementation thereof.

You will use your expertise to understand different cloud offerings that are available. Not only that, but you know how to create proofs of concept quickly to illustrate your proposed solution, separating key elements from nice to haves. Furthermore, you will also be the main sparring partner to the CTO in architectural decisions. Technical setup as they are building a microservice mesh on top of Google Cloud. Each service is either a JSON Rest or gRPC service written in TypeScript using the Nest.Js framework. The service mesh is consumed by our different front-ends, e.g., CRM, intake and client portals, but all these are not in the scope of this job.

What you’ll do: 

• Improve code base
• Translating requirements to technical architecture and implementing
• Research new tech for improvement platform
• Architectural overview Working on our microservice mesh, you will have a clear picture of the interdependencies of the network. You will spot improvements to the mesh and decide how to split functionality into efficient services.
• Innovation You will look to improve the code base wherever you go, looking to the edges of the technologies used. Any new findings are shared with the rest of the tech team.
• Leverage Cloud strongly leverages the Google Cloud Platform, constantly trying to incorporate off the shelf products, e.g. AI models, Postgres, scalable microservices, IAM etc., into efficient solutions tailored to our operation. You will take an active interest in further investigations into the possibilities.

What you’ll need:

• Inquisitive, thorough, a good communicator, a critical thinker, has leadership skills and takes ownership. Solution-oriented and a real team player.
• >5 years experience as a software developer.
