Now this is a story all about how the Dutch labor market got flipped turned upside down, and I’d like to take a minute just sit right there I’ll tell you how Jonathan Garcia brought Solvism here.
Recently, the Dutch labour market’s employment and vacancy statistics have undergone a dramatic shift. Compared to the previous quarter the number of people unemployed has decreased by 14 thousand in the first quarter of 2019. At the same time the number of vacancies has increased by 14 thousand.
Jobs are growing and companies struggle to find suitable candidates, but our member Jonathan Garcia is trying to address that with his company Solvism. Jonathan joined The Hague tech in August 2019 after having worked several years within the recruitment/IT field. With Solvism, Jonathan is applying his expertise in the labour market to help start-ups, scale ups, and those looking for work to find each other.
While he does consult companies on how to best find, attract, and retain talented candidates his focus is a more unique model. He works with talented candidates directly as a personal recruiter helping them find the company as opposed to helping the company find them.
Jonathan believes that putting those who are looking for a new challenge at the centre is a more effective and sustainable approach. There is more to a candidate than their CV, there’s a person behind it. Much the same as there is a culture behind every company and matching the candidate to the right environment is just as important as negotiating the right salary and benefits. In essence, Jonathan is a community builder, one member at a time.
Because the Dutch labour market has so many vacancies, Jonathan sees this as an opportunity for candidates to have more power when vying for a position and with Solvism that power only increases. Backed by his existing network of professionals and companies, bringing the right people together has never been easier.
For the future Jonathan plans to push Solvism beyond traditional recruiting and applying strategy. By hosting talks and workshops he hopes to share his knowledge and create dialogue within the community about our evolving labour market.
