For candidates

Know the pay first.

Software, data, AI and hardware roles at SaaS and deep-tech companies. The salary band comes in the first conversation.

Ask Jonathan a question. No CV needed.

How we work

What you can hold us to.

The pay is known before you interview. Every role has a salary band from the client. We tell you the band in the first conversation, and it is never an estimate.

The role is real and the hard part is named. We ask every hiring manager what is genuinely difficult about the job. If they cannot say, we do not post it.

Your profile goes nowhere without your yes. We do not introduce you to a company for a role until you have said yes to that company and that role, in writing.

A no comes with a reason. The process should come back to you either way, and a no matches what the panel recorded. You can ask for a review by a person with no AI involved.

You are never charged. Clients pay us to run their recruitment. You pay nothing to be represented or introduced.

What keeps a role off our board.

Useful before there is a vacancy.

Most engineers we speak with are not looking. They want to know what the market is doing, whether an offer in front of them is fair, and whether a title is real. You can ask us those things without a role attached.

Ask what your profile pays. Tell us your discipline, seniority and city. We tell you the bands we are seeing in this market, and where you sit in them.

Ask about an offer. If you have an offer from anyone, ours or not, we tell you where it sits against the bands we see and what we would ask for.

Ask what a title means here. A staff engineer here can be a senior engineer somewhere else. Before you take a title that will not travel, ask.

Ask Jonathan a question.

The process

From finding a role to hearing back.

Interview stages, participants and timing depend on the role. Check its published details and ask about anything missing.

  1. Find a role

Compare the work and the working pattern on the jobs board with what you want next. The salary band comes in the first conversation. Ask Jonathan about anything missing; include the role title or link. You do not need to send a CV to ask.

  2. Read the notice and apply

Read the role page, then the short data notice on it. The application link takes you to Recruit CRM, the system we run the process in. Read the vacancy-specific privacy notice there before you enter anything. Applying asks us to handle that role only. It is not permission for any other company or role.

  3. Prepare and agree next steps

Before an interview, confirm the format, who you will meet and what is being assessed. Ask who will contact you and when. Ask what was recorded and why; asking does not promise a different result.

Nobody should leave an interview process without knowing how they did, and why.

After an interview, the standard is a written explanation against criteria set before the conversation, from a person rather than a template. If a Solvism process falls short of that standard, tell me.

What keeps a role off our board.

Prepare for an interview

Bring examples. Bring questions.

Explain work you have done

Explain the problem, your own contribution, the choices you made and what you learned. Be clear about what others contributed.

Do not share confidential code, drawings or information about colleagues and customers. Use only materials you may share.

Understand the work ahead

  • What problem should the person in this role help solve?
  • Who will you work with, and how are decisions made?
  • What is difficult about the work or the team situation?
  • What will the interview assess, and what preparation is expected?

For hardware roles, also ask. How many days are on site, and where is the bench or lab? Is the product at prototype or in series? Is the contract with the company or with an agency?

Your data

Where your information goes.

No candidate form or file upload is active on this site yet. Email uses your email provider and Solvism's mailbox provider; both handle the message.

If we found you through LinkedIn rather than you applying, we do not show your identifiable profile to a company without your written yes for that company and role. You can ask how AI was used in handling your information and request a review by a person with no AI involved.

The processor list, storage regions, retention periods, your rights and how AI assists your candidacy are set out in full on the candidate data page, the privacy statement and how we use AI.

If no published role fits, you can still ask about the process, your data, or what your profile pays in this market. For a role question, include its title or link. Applications start from that role's page; please do not send a speculative CV.
