Front end roles with a say in what gets built
Front end has a specific way of going wrong. The decisions get made in a room you were not in and arrive as a file to build, and by the time you can see the problem the argument is already over. So the question worth asking is not what the design system is. It is at what point engineering enters the conversation, and whether anybody has ever changed their mind because you were in it.
What we ask before we post one
The questions the ad never answers.
- Is there a design system, and who owns it?
- Do engineers join design decisions before handoff, or after?
- What is the accessibility standard, and is it tested in the build or checked by hand?
- Are there performance budgets, and does the build fail when one is breached?
- How much of the work is new surface, and how much is maintaining what exists?
- Who decides when a component is finished?
What we will not post
We do not post front end roles where the answer on accessibility is that nobody has looked.
